"The Beauty of the Flame Tree"

Flame Tree Saipan Island Beaches

This is a local flame tree similar to the Australian native rainforest tree, scientifically called Brachychiton acerifolius. Providing great shade from the sun, flame trees line the street from the airport on Saipan and is associated with a local festival. The Flame Tree Arts Festival is held between the months of April and May and showcase some of the best Micronesian visual and performing arts and crafts. The Festival, now in it's 21st year, celebrates the land and sea traditions of the micronesian islands.
